  1. My primary has:
    log_archive_dest_2=service=”(DESCRIPTION=(ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=tcp)(HOST=sbyhost.domain)(PORT=1521))(CONNECT_DATA=(SERVICE_NAME=sbyname.domain)(SERVER=DEDICATED)))”, ASYNC NOAFFIRM delay=0 optional compression=disable max_failure=0 max_connections=1 reopen=300 db_unique_name=”sbyname” net_timeout=30, valid_for=(online_logfile,all_roles)

    The _2 was set by dgmgrl when configuring Data Guard.

    My standby has:

    Should I be setting the _2 here with the reverse of what is in the primary? I am also getting the message SWITCHOVER VERIFY WARNING: no standby database is defined in LOG_ARCHIVE_DEST_n to protect this database if it is converted to a primary database

    • If you have configured broker, user broker to switchover since _2 control by broker and broker not allowed any value during the broker configure.

  2. you mention this:
    SWITCHOVER VERIFY WARNING: switchover target has no standby database defined in LOG_ARCHIVE_DEST_n parameter.
    If the switchover target is converted to a primary database, the new primary database will not be protected.

    but what did you fix?
